Grown in the villages of Dari Kojuwa and Geda Baili in Ethiopia’s Hambela Wamena district of West Guji, this coffee comes from a region bordering the legendary Gedeb Yirgacheffe area. The combination of high elevation, rich organic soils, and ideal growing conditions produces coffees celebrated for their clarity, complexity, and elegance.
Ripe cherries are sourced from local smallholder farmers and delivered to vertically integrated washing stations, where quality is carefully controlled at every stage. This Ethiopian coffee is uncertified, yet naturally organic, with indigenous Heirloom (landrace) varieties thriving in harmony with the local environment, benefiting from natural pest control and nutrient-rich soils.
Only the ripest red cherries are hand-selected before being laid out on raised drying beds. The coffee is sun-dried under closely monitored conditions and turned regularly to ensure even drying, finishing at an optimal 10.5% moisture content. This careful, traditional process preserves the coffee’s vibrant character and distinctive flavour profile.
Vibrant hibiscus and jasmine-like florals lead the cup, followed by juicy ripe peach and stone fruit sweetness. A lively citrus acidity—think blood orange and lemon zest—adds brightness and structure. The finish is smooth and lingering, with notes of carob, cocoa nib, and a subtle honeyed sweetness that rounds everything out.
